M. 2: Representative Work

This is my Module 2 assignment submission, and this will be on a photograph that I took of my cow and her new baby.

Kindle and Eeyore

What is important about this photo?

The two biggest details that are important to this picture for me, are Kindle, my cow, and her baby Eeyore. The smaller, but still relevant details are the position that these two are in. Kindle is positioned around her baby, with her motherly instinct to protect and care for her calf. She is just about to lick Eeyore’s head, again, using her motherly instinct to make sure he is clean and healthy. This makes the photo’s theme or overall importance about kindness and motherly instincts.

These details appeal the most to me because I see myself as a kind and caring person and am often referred to as the ‘mom’ of the group. I do not have kids, seeing as I am still in high school, but my animals are my kids, and this motherly instinct that Kindle has is almost like the one that I have for caring for my animals. I would do anything for them, and they have become such a big aspect in my life, I can’t see my life without having any animals in it. Which is one of the reasons I picked this picture, because I think in order for someone to know and understand me, they have to know about my love and devotion for animals.

Going back to the theme of this picture, I believe that the theme here is motherly instincts and we could go as far as saying that it could be focus as well. I say this because in the photo, Kindle is so focused on her baby, she doesn’t care about the person in front of her. A lot of animals are known to get distracted easily because of their curiosity and there caution of danger. Kindle tends to get distracted very easily when I spend time with her as well, always moving her head towards random sounds. But when it comes to her baby, she is all professional and focused, making sure that nothing happens to him. This is relevant to me because I am always focused when working with my animals, to make sure my animal and I are safe and doing what we are supposed to be doing.

All in all, this picture depicts the motherly instincts and focus of animals, and shows how I can relate to them because of my deep love for animals and my focus when it comes to them.
